International Nonproprietary Name - etifoxine Clinical-pharmacological group: Central Nervous System → Anxiolytics and Hypnotics Composition: Active substance: etifoxine hydrochloride; 1 capsule contains etifoxine hydrochloride 50 mg; Excipients: lactose monohydrate, talc, microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silica, magnesium stearate. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) agent. Pharmacological properties: At therapeutic doses, etifoxine hydrochloride has an anxiolytic effect. Etifoxine hydrochloride does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions and can be used as a daytime tranquilizer. Indications: Stress-related neurasthenic conditions accompanied by anxiety, fear, and restlessness, anxiety-phobic disorders, vegetative disorders with moderately expressed fear, apathy, decreased activity. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, shock condition, myasthenia gravis, severe liver and/or kidney dysfunction; the preparation contains lactose, therefore it is not recommended for patients with congenital galactosemia, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, or lactase deficiency; pregnancy; breastfeeding. Special Instructions: The preparation is not prescribed for children under 15 years of age (due to insufficient clinical studies). When discontinuing treatment with STREZAM, the patient does not experience withdrawal syndrome. STREZAM does not affect the speed of psychomotor reactions, but considering the individual reaction to the preparation, a temporary impairment of the ability to drive motor vehicles and operate potentially dangerous machinery may occur during treatment. During treatment, one should refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages and other centrally acting substances (haloperidol, diazepam, imipramine). If necessary, symptomatic treatment is carried out by medical personnel. There is no specific antidote. Side Effects: Dizziness is sometimes observed, which may occur at the beginning of treatment and disappear on its own during continued treatment.
