- International Nonproprietary Name: SULFACETAMIDE Active Substance: Sulfacetamide Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Antimicrobial agent, sulfonamide. Composition and Dosage Form: Eye drops 30% sodium sulfacetamide 300 mg/ml; Description: A clear liquid, colorless or yellowish. See blog: Albucid drops - an ophthalmic drug Pharmacological Properties: The drug inhibits the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid by suppressing the combination of pteridine with aminobenzoic acid through competitive inhibition of the dihydropteroate synthetase enzyme. The drug is effective in streptococcal, gonococcal, pneumococcal, and colibacillary infections. Pharmacodynamics: Sulfonamide has a broad spectrum of action; it is bacteriostatic. Its mechanism of action is related to competitive antagonism with PABA and competitive inhibition of dihydrofoloate synthetase, leading to impaired synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines. It is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative cocci, E. coli, as well as Chlamydia, Actinomycetes, and others. Pharmacokinetics: Upon local application, it penetrates tissues and ocular fluids. It can enter the systemic circulation from inflamed conjunctiva, but due to the insignificant amount of the drug, no systemic effect is observed. Indications for Use: Conjunctivitis, blepharitis, purulent ulcers of the cornea, and other infectious diseases of the eyes caused by microorganisms sensitive to sulfonamides; complex treatment of trachoma. Method of Administration and Dosage: Instill 1-2 drops every 2-3 hours. The course of treatment is 7-10 days. For trachoma - instill 2 drops every 2 hours. Contraindications: Toxic-allergic reactions to sulfonamides. Use During Pregnancy and Lactation: As indicated. Side Effects: Local irritation, burning, non-specific conjunctivitis, conjunctival hyperemia. Overdose: The dose of the drug should be reduced, the interval between applications of eye drops should be increased, or the use of the drug should be discontinued. Interaction with Other Drugs: When used with Novocaine and Dicaine, the bacteriostatic effect of the drug is reduced. Incompatibility of sodium sulfacil is observed when used with silver salts. Special Instructions: In patients with individual hypersensitivity to furosemide, thiazide diuretics, sulfonylureas, or carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, hypersensitivity to sodium sulfacetamide may occur. Warnings: Prolonged use may lead to: increase in microorganisms insensitive to the drug, including fungi; development of bacterial resistance. Storage: Store at a temperature of 8-25°C. Dosage Form: 10 ml polyethylene dropper bottles. Dispensing Conditions: Over-the-counter.

Показания к применению: Конъюнктивиты, блефариты, гнойные язвы роговицы и др. инфекционные заболевания глаз, вызванные чувствительными к сульфаниламидам микроорганизмами; комплексное лечение трахомы. Способ применения и дозы: Инстилляции по 1-2 капли каждые 2-3 часа. Курс лечения составляет 7-10 дней. При трахоме — инсталляции по 2 капли каждые 2 часа. Противопоказания: Токсико-аллергические реакции на сульфаниламиды. Применение во время беременности и лактации: По показаниям. Побочное действие: Местное раздражение, жжение, неспецифический конъюнктивит, конъюнктивальная гиперемия. Передозировка: Дозу препарата следует уменьшить, увеличить интервал между применениями глазных капель или прекратить применение препарата. Взаимодействие с другими лекарствами: При совместном применении с новокаином и дикаином снижается бактериостатический эффект препарата. При его применении с солями серебра отмечается несовместимость натрия сульфацила. Особые указания: У пациентов с индивидуальной гиперчувствительностью к фуросемиду, тиазидным диуретикам, производным сульфонилмочевины или ингибиторам карбоангидразы может проявляться гиперчувствительность к натрия сульфацетамиду. Предупреждения: При длительном применении возможно: увеличение числа нечувствительных к препарату микроорганизмов, включая грибы; развитие бактериальной устойчивости.
