What is it?
Sulfargin, 10mg/g OintmentSilver SulfadiazineRead the instructions for use carefully before using the preparation, as it contains information necessary for the patient.Composition: Active substance: Silver sulfadiazine. 1g of ointment contains 10mg of silver sulfadiazine. Other components: Petrolatum, propylene glycol, cetostearyl alcohol, glyceryl monostearate 40-55, polysorbate 80, methylparahydroxybenzoate (E218), propylparahydroxybenzoate (E 216), purified water.Indications: Additional prophylaxis and treatment of infected burn wounds; additional treatment of infected skin ulcers and bedsores; additional prophylaxis of infected skin graft sites and extensive abrasions.Contraindications: If the patient is allergic to silver sulfadiazine or other sulfonamides; has a known metabolic disorder - congenital deficiency of the carbohydrate metabolism enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (hemolysis may occur when applied to large areas); is pregnant and/or breastfeeding.Sulfargin cannot be used (due to the risk of developing kernicterus): in premature infants; in infants under 3 months of age. The use of Sulfargin is not recommended for the treatment of deep purulent wounds and wet burn wounds.The patient should inform their doctor before using the preparation if they have any of the conditions listed above.Warnings and Precautions: Inform your doctor before using the ointment: if the patient has liver or kidney failure; if they have porphyria (a rare hereditary disease affecting the skin and nervous system); as with other topical antimicrobial preparations, superinfection may develop with Sulfargin.Children: Due to the risk of developing kernicterus, Sulfargin cannot be used in premature infants and infants under 3 months of age.Other Medicines and Sulfargin: Inform your doctor or pharmacist if the patient is using, has recently used, or plans to use any other medicines. Silver sulfadiazine can inactivate locally applied proteolytic enzymes, so their simultaneous use is not recommended.Pregnancy and Lactation: Sulfargin cannot be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If the patient is pregnant, breastfeeding, thinks she might be pregnant, or plans to become pregnant, she should consult her doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Sulfargin contains methylparahydroxybenzoate (E 218), propylparahydroxybenzoate (E 216), cetostearyl alcohol, and propylene glycol.Methylparahydroxybenzoate (E 218) and propylparahydroxybenzoate (E 216) may cause allergic reactions (including delayed type), and in isolated cases, bronchospasm.Cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions (e.g., contact dermatitis).Propylene glycol may cause skin irritation.How to Use: Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist. For the first use, to open the tube, pierce the membrane on the neck of the tube with the conical device. After cleaning the skin surface, apply the ointment in a thin layer (2-4mm) to the affected area 1-2 times a day, under a sterile dressing or openly. The ointment can also be applied to a sterile dressing, which is then placed on the affected area. The use of Sulfargin is painless, and the ointment does not stain clothes or bedding.
