What is it?

International name - Taurinum International and chemical names: Taufonum; 2-aminoethanesulfonic acid; Main physical-chemical properties: Transparent colorless liquid; Composition: Taurine - 0.2 g; Excipients: Nipagin, purified water. Dosage form. Eye drops. Pharmacotherapeutic group. Agents used in ophthalmology. Indications for use. Taufon is prescribed for adults with dystrophic lesions of the retina, including hereditary tapetoretinal degenerations, corneal dystrophies, senile, diabetic, traumatic, and radiation cataracts, as a stimulant of regenerative processes in corneal injuries. Method of administration and dosage. For cataracts, Taufon is prescribed in the form of instillations: 2-3 drops 2-4 times a day daily for 3 months. Courses are repeated with one-month intervals. For injuries, it is used in similar doses for 1 month. For the treatment of tapetoretinal degeneration and other dystrophic diseases of the retina, and penetrating corneal wounds, the drug is administered conjunctivally: 0.3 ml of a 4% solution once a day for 10 days. The course of treatment is repeated after 6-8 months. Side effects. Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug may develop, manifested in the form of allergic reactions. Contraindications. Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Overdose. There is no data on overdose of the drug. Special precautions for use. There is data that the drug is effective as an intraocular pressure lowering agent in patients with glaucoma. Pregnancy and lactation. There is no data on the use of the drug in pregnant and lactating women. Interaction with other drugs. According to some data, the drug increases the hypotensive effect of timolol when used together. Storage conditions and shelf life. Store in a place inaccessible to children, protected from light, at a temperature of 8-15°C. Shelf life – 3 years.
