What is it?
Name - Thioctavens Solution for Infusion 12mg/1ml 50ml Vial #1 Indications Peripheral (sensorimotor) diabetic polyneuropathy. Contraindications - Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug - Children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Dosage and administration At the beginning of therapy, Thioctavens solution for infusion is administered intravenously at a dose of 600 mg (1 vial) per day for 2-4 weeks. The vial containing the drug is removed from the box and immediately covered with the enclosed light-protective sleeve, as thioctic acid is sensitive to light. Infusion is carried out directly from the vial using a device (system) for intravenous infusion of solutions. It is administered slowly, at approximately 1.7 ml/min, for 30 minutes. Then, maintenance therapy is initiated with an oral thioctic acid preparation at a dose of 600 mg per day. The duration of the course of therapy and the need for its repetition are determined by the attending physician. Special instructions Alcohol consumption is contraindicated during treatment with the drug. Alcohol consumption during Thioctavens therapy reduces the therapeutic effect and is a risk factor that contributes to the development and progression of neuropathy. In isolated cases, in patients with decompensated and inadequately controlled diabetes, as well as in conditions of severely impaired general well-being, serious anaphylactic reactions associated with the use of Thioctavens may develop. In patients with diabetes mellitus, constant monitoring of blood glucose concentration is necessary, especially at the initial stage of therapy. In some cases, it is necessary to reduce the dose of insulin or oral hypoglycemic drug to prevent the development of hypoglycemia. If symptoms of hypoglycemia appear (dizziness, increased sweating, headache, visual disturbances, nausea), therapy should be immediately discontinued. Use during pregnancy and lactation Use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation is contraindicated. Storage conditions Store in a dry, light-protected place at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.
