Genistein and peripheral neuropathy - Genistein and gabapentin have similar effects in terms of anti-inflammatory, neuroregeneration, and neuropathic pain on experimental models. Genistein can be considered an alternative to gabapentin in cases of peripheral nerve damage. Genistein and diabetic retinopathy - Diabetic retinopathy is associated with hyperactivation of microglial cells in the retina and high concentrations of cytokines. Genistein, as a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, has shown anti-inflammatory effects.
