International Nonproprietary Name - KETOROLAC Active Substance: KETOROLAC Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic effect. Composition and Dosage Form: Tablets: 20 pcs. per pack. 1 tab. Ketorolac tromethamine ....... 10 mg Solution for IM or IV use: 1 ml in ampoule, 5 pcs. per pack. 1 amp. Ketorolac tromethamine ......... 30 mg Indications: Short-term management of moderate to severe pain requiring opioid-level analgesia. Toradol is not indicated for the treatment of chronic pain syndromes. Dosage and Administration: Duration of Treatment: In adults, the total duration of repeated IM or bolus IV administration of Toradol should not exceed 5 days, as the frequency of side effects increases with longer use. In adults, the maximum duration of IV infusion of Toradol should not exceed 24 hours. In children, the total duration of parenteral administration of Toradol should not exceed 2 days. In adults, Toradol tablets are recommended for short-term use (up to 7 days); prolonged use is not indicated. Solution for Injection: In adults, Toradol solution for injection is intended for single or repeated intramuscular or bolus intravenous administration. In children, Toradol solution can be administered as a single intramuscular injection, with additional intravenous injections if necessary. Intravenous injection is preferred in children, as intramuscular administration may be painful. • The drug should be administered at the minimum effective dose. It is selected based on pain intensity and patient response. If necessary, low-dose opioids may be additionally prescribed if there are no contraindications. When Toradol is administered parenterally concurrently with opioids, the opioid doses may be lower than usual. • As with other NSAIDs, hypovolemia must be corrected before administering Toradol; the drug should only be used in patients with normal hydration and electrolyte balance. • Intravenous administration should be performed over at least 15 seconds. Intramuscular injection is performed slowly, deep into the muscle. Analgesic effect begins approximately 30 minutes after administration, with maximum pain relief achieved 1-2 hours later. • The duration of analgesic effect is usually 4-6 hours. • Due to the possibility of hypersensitivity reactions, ranging from bronchospasm to anaphylactic shock, appropriate medical measures should be readily available for the first injection of Toradol. • Administration of Toradol injections is not recommended in children under 2 years of age due to limited experience with the drug in this patient group. Single Dose in Adults Intramuscularly: Patients up to 65 years of age - 10-60 mg once, depending on the severity of the pain syndrome. Patients over 65 years of age or with impaired renal function - 10-30 mg once. Intravenously: Patients up to 65 years of age - 10-30 mg once, depending on the severity of the pain syndrome. Patients over 65 years of age or with impaired renal function - 10-15 mg once. Tablets Toradol in tablets can be administered as a single dose or repeatedly. With fixed dosing or as needed. In adults, Toradol tablets are prescribed for short-term use (up to 7 days); prolonged tablet use is not indicated. Administration of Toradol tablets to children is not recommended due to limited experience. The recommended dose for single administration is 10 mg, and for repeated administration is 10 mg every 4-6 hours, depending on the intensity of pain; the maximum daily dose should not exceed 40 mg.
