What is it?
Name - Tornaza Dex Eye Ointment (3mg+1mg)/1ml 5g Tube #1 Use Tornaza Dex is a combination medication containing dexamethasone and tobramycin, intended for ophthalmic use. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory action. Tobramycin is an antibiotic belonging to the aminoglycosides, which are active against a range of microorganisms, including those causing eye infections. It is used for the prevention and treatment of inflammatory conditions of the eye, as well as for the prevention of expected infection after cataract surgery in adults and children aged 2 years and older. Contraindications Tornaza Dex eye ointment should not be used in the following cases: • Allergy (hypersensitivity) to tobramycin and/or dexamethasone or any of the excipients in this medication (listed in the composition); • Herpes simplex keratitis; after vaccination for chickenpox; during chickenpox and other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva; • Eye infections caused by mycobacteria (tuberculosis of the eye); • Eye infections caused by fungi of the eye or if untreated parasitic infections of the eye are present; • In cases of untreated purulent infections of the eye. • Pregnancy, lactation, and fertility • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. • The use of Tornaza Dex is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. • How to use • Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, ask your doctor. • Recommended dosage • The usual recommended dose for adults is a small amount of ointment (approximately a 1.5 cm strip) applied to the conjunctival sac of the infected eye(s) (in the lower inner corner), three or four times a day. • The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor. • It should not be used for more than 24 days. • Tornaza Dex eye ointment can be used in children aged 2 years and older at the same dosage as in adults. • Tornaza Dex eye ointment is for your own eyes only.
