What is it?
Trofocard Composition: Active substance: Mono-magnesium L-aspartate hydrochloride trihydrate, corresponding to Mg++. Excipients: Gastro-resistant tablet: Macrogol 4000, Colloidal silicon dioxide, Magnesium stearate, Starch. Coating: Methacrylic acid copolymer L30 D55, Talc, Titanium dioxide E 171 CI 77891, Polyethylene glycol 6000, Triethyl citrate, Purified water. Concentration of active substance: Gastro-resistant tablet: Each gastro-resistant tablet contains 614.8mg of mono-magnesium L-aspartate hydrochloride trihydrate, corresponding to 60.77 mg Mg++. General information: Magnesium is an essential element for life and participates in many metabolic processes. The daily requirement of magnesium in humans is 400-600mg. The average amount of magnesium obtained from food in humans is sufficient to meet daily metabolic demands. Magnesium deficiency can be caused by insufficient intake (inadequate nutrition, poor diet, long-term total parenteral nutrition, chronic alcoholism, decreased intestinal absorption, persistent diarrhea). Rarely, it can develop as a result of increased magnesium loss in urine (decreased tubular reabsorption due to adverse effects of certain drugs). Clinical studies have shown that a decrease in magnesium in the human body leads to necrosis of myocardial tissues. Magnesium deficiency is associated with an increased risk of thrombosis. Indications: Treatment of magnesium deficiency confirmed by laboratory analysis. Contraindications: Preparations help patients, but can also cause side effects if not used as directed. In general, the treating physician should be informed if the patient has a confirmed hypersensitivity to this preparation or any of its ingredients, and also in the following cases: Severe heart or kidney failure: In such cases, the preparation should be used with caution and serum magnesium levels should be regularly monitored. The possibility of magnesium retention should be considered in kidney failure (plasma creatinine levels > 500 micromol/L or 6 mg/100ml). In such cases, the serum magnesium concentration should not exceed 31.6 mg. Warnings and precautions for use: Special caution is required in patients with kidney failure (plasma creatinine levels < 500 micromol/L or 6 mg/100ml) and in patients taking digoxin preparations; it is not necessary to prohibit the above-mentioned dosage. Pregnancy and lactation: Trofocard can be used safely during pregnancy and lactation. Interactions with medicinal products: When taken with tetracyclines, it is necessary to observe a 3-hour interval between drug administrations. The same interval should be observed when taking calcium and magnesium orally. In addition, simultaneous parenteral and oral administration of magnesium should be avoided. Dosage and method of administration: Gastro-resistant tablet: Children aged 6-9 years: 1 tablet 2 times a day. Children aged 10-14 years: 1 tablet 3 times a day. Adults: 2 tablets 3 times a day. Tablets should be swallowed whole. Overdose and treatment: Symptoms of hypermagnesemia include cardiac arrhythmias, respiratory problems, and neuromuscular transmission disorders. Treatment: Vigorous diuresis with water or strong diuretics. In case of kidney failure, dialysis or peritoneal dialysis is recommended. Possible side effects: Along with the desired effects, all preparations can cause side effects. If any side effect occurs, including one not listed in this instruction, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
