What is it?
Composition: 1) Each vial contains: Ceftriaxone Sodium, Sulbactam 2) Each ampoule contains: Lidocaine Injection BP 1% (2ml) Mechanism of Action: Vacef's bactericidal action is due to the inhibition of the biosynthesis of the microbial cell wall's peptidoglycan. Indications: Upper and lower respiratory tract infections. Otorhinolaryngological infections. Meningitis, sepsis, septicemia. Genitourinary tract infections. Intra-abdominal infections: peritonitis, cholecystitis, cholangitis. Skin and soft tissue infections. Infections in immunocompromised patients. Prophylaxis of perioperative complications during thoraco-abdominal, gynecological, and orthopedic surgeries. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to penicillins and cephalosporins. Dosage Regimen: The recommended dose for adults ranges from 1.5 g to 3 g per day. In newborns and children, Vacef dosage is determined by the dose of ceftriaxone it contains: In newborns up to 2 weeks, the single daily dose of ceftriaxone is 20-50 mg/kg body weight per day. In children from 2 months to 12 years of age, 20-80 mg/kg body weight per day. Method of Administration: For painless intramuscular injection, the contents of the Vacef vial are dissolved in 1% lidocaine solution and injected deep into the muscle. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place at a temperature below 30°C. Protect from light.
