What is it?
Indications: An oral prodrug of the bactericidal cephalosporin antibiotic cefuroxime, which is resistant to most beta-lactamases and active against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. Indicated for the treatment of infection caused by susceptible bacteria. Indications include: - Upper respiratory tract infections e.g. ear, nose, and throat infections such as otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, and pharyngitis. - Lower respiratory tract infections e.g. pneumonia, acute bronchitis, and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis. - Genitourinary tract infections (e.g. pyelonephritis, cystitis, and urethritis), - Gonorrhea, acute uncomplicated gonococcal urethritis, and cervicitis. - Skin and soft tissue infections, e.g: furunculosis, pyoderma, and impetigo. - Treatment of early Lyme disease and prevention of later Lyme disease in adults and children over 12 years of age. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics. Dispensing rules: Pharmaceutical product group II, dispensed with prescription form N3
