What is it?
Indications: The active substance of Zoledro-Denk 4mg-5ml is zoledronic acid, which belongs to a group of substances called bisphosphonates. Zoledronic acid acts on bones and slows down the process of bone breakdown. It is used to: prevent bone complications, such as fractures, bone metastases in elderly patients (spread of tumor process from the primary site to the bones); to reduce elevated calcium levels in the blood as a result of the tumor process. Some types of tumors cause increased bone turnover by increasing the release of calcium from bones. This condition is known as tumor-induced hypercalcemia (TIH). For the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men, as well as for the treatment of osteoporosis developed as a result of steroid treatment; for the treatment of Paget's disease. Contraindications: The patient must carefully follow all instructions provided by the treating physician. The treating physician will perform biochemical blood tests before starting treatment with Zoledro-Denk 4mg-5ml, and will also assess the results of the treatment at regular intervals. Zoledro-Denk 4mg-5ml should not be taken if: the patient is allergic to zoledronic acid, or any other bisphosphonate (the group of substances to which Zoledro-Denk 4mg-5ml belongs) or any of the components of this medication; if the patient has hypocalcemia (very low calcium concentration in the blood); has severe kidney problems; the patient is breastfeeding; the patient is pregnant. Children and adolescents: The use of Zoledro-Denk 4mg-5ml is not recommended in children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Pregnancy and lactation: Treatment with Zoledro-Denk 4mg-5ml is contraindicated during pregnancy. Consult your doctor if you think you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. Treatment with Zoledro-Denk 4mg-5ml is contraindicated in breastfeeding mothers. Consult your treating physician before taking any medication during pregnancy or lactation. Storage: Keep out of reach of children; do not use the medication after the expiry date indicated after "EXP" on the packaging. The expiry date is considered to be the last day of the indicated month. Store at a temperature not exceeding 25C. Do not freeze. Shelf life: Unopened vial: 3 years. After opening: use immediately.
