What is it?
Albumin (Albunorm) Solution for Infusion 20% 50ml Vial Composition: The active substance is 200 g/l human albumin, derived from human plasma (50, 100 ml bottle). Other ingredients are sodium chloride, N-acetyl-DL-tryptophan, caprylic acid, and water for injections. Indication: Albunorm 20% belongs to the pharmaceutical group: blood substitutes and plasma protein fractions. The product is used to restore and maintain circulating blood volume when volume deficit is present. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Human albumin is a normal component of human blood. No adverse effects on development are known when this product is used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Special caution is required for correction of blood volume in pregnant women. Ask your doctor for advice before taking any medicine. Driving and Operating Machinery: There are no reports that human albumin impairs the ability to drive or operate machinery. Exercise Caution: If you are at particular risk of increased blood volume, e.g. in cases of severe heart failure, high blood pressure, esophageal varices, pulmonary edema, coagulation disorders, severely low red blood cell counts or absence of urine output. When signs of increased blood volume (headache, breathing difficulties, jugular vein distension) or increased blood pressure are observed. Infusion must be stopped immediately. When signs of an allergic reaction are observed. Infusion must be stopped immediately. When used in patients with severe traumatic brain injury. Usage: Albunorm 20% is ready for use as an intravenous infusion ("drip"). The dose and infusion rate (how quickly Albunorm is given into the vein) will depend on your specific condition. Your doctor will decide what treatment is best for you. Instructions: The product should be warmed to room or body temperature before use. The solution should be clear and free from precipitate. Any unused solution must be discarded. If you have any further questions on the use of this product, ask your doctor or pharmacist. If you used more Albunorm 20% than you should have If the dosage and infusion rate are too high, headache, high blood pressure and discomfort on breathing may develop. Infusion must be stopped immediately and your doctor will decide if other treatment is necessary. Storage: Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children. Do not store above 25°C. Store in the original container in order to protect from light. Do not freeze. After opening the infusion container, its contents should be used immediately. The solution should be clear or slightly opalescent. Do not use cloudy solutions or solutions with precipitate.
