What is it?
Albumin (Zenalbi 20) Solution for Infusion 20% 50ml Vial Glass Composition: The active substance is human albumin. Zenalbi 20 is a solution containing 200 g/L total protein, of which not less than 95% is human albumin. Other excipients include sodium octanoate, sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment), acetic acid (for pH adjustment), and water for injections. Use: Zenalbi 20 is a solution containing human albumin (a protein naturally present in the blood, necessary for various functions) as the active substance. Human albumin is obtained from screened donor plasma, selected in the USA. Zenalbi 20 is used to replace blood or body fluids lost due to bleeding, surgery, or kidney dialysis (cleaning of blood using a machine). It contains four times more albumin compared to normal blood. The medication is administered by injection into a vein (intravenous infusion), either undiluted or diluted in 5% glucose or 0.9% sodium chloride solution. The medication is dispensed by prescription only. How to use: Zenalbi 20 is administered by infusion (a very slow injection into a vein). Zenalbi 20 is primarily administered by a doctor or nurse, not by the patient. The bottle should be warmed to room temperature before use. A thin plastic tube and connector are inserted into the vein with a needle; the needle is removed and the connector is attached to the plastic tube. The medication bottle is attached to the other end of the tube and hung on a plastic hanger above the patient. The medication slowly flows through the tube, passes through a filter, and enters the body through the thin plastic tube. Dosage: The doctor or nurse will calculate the dose and frequency of administration of Zenalbi 20. The amount depends on individual needs. During and after treatment with Zenalbi 20, the doctor will check: How the medication is working, based on the patient's pulse and heart rate; The patient's blood pressure; Heart or lung pressure by inserting a very thin tube into a vein or artery; Heart rate and breathing should be checked regularly, especially if the patient is elderly or very young; Blood tests to check when the required amount of protein, sodium, and potassium is reached in the body and when treatment should be stopped. Storage: The medication should be stored out of reach of children. Do not use the preparation after the expiry date indicated on the carton and bottle, the expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month. Store at 2 C - 25 C. Do not freeze. Must be used within 3 hours of opening the bottle. The medication should not be used if the solution is cloudy or if there is precipitation. Store in the original carton to protect from light.
