It is used to treat the symptoms of dementia in people diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. Symptoms include memory loss, confusion, and changes in behavior. As a result, patients with Alzheimer's disease find it increasingly difficult to carry out normal daily activities. Donepezil Hydrochloride is used only in adult patients. How to take Donepezil Hydrochloride tablets How much Donepezil Hydrochloride should you take? As a rule, you should start taking the medication at a dose of 5 mg every night. After one month, your doctor may recommend taking 10 mg every night. Swallow the Donepezil Hydrochloride tablet with water, before going to bed. The strength of the tablet taken may change depending on how long you have been taking the medication and on your doctor's recommendation. The maximum recommended dose is 10 mg every night. Always follow your doctor's or pharmacist's advice on how and when to take the medication. Do not change the dose of the medication yourself without consulting your doctor. How long should you take Donepezil Hydrochloride? Your doctor or pharmacist will advise you on how long you should continue taking the tablets. Regular visits to your doctor are necessary to assess your treatment and symptoms. If you stop taking Donepezil Hydrochloride Do not stop taking the tablets unless your doctor advises you to do so. If you stop taking Donepezil Hydrochloride, the benefits of the treatment will gradually decrease. If you take more than you should Do not take more than one tablet per day. If you forget to take Donepezil If you forget to take a tablet, take one tablet the next day at the usual time. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Donepezil can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. The following side effects have been reported when taking Donepezil. Symptoms of an ulcer are stomach pain and discomfort (indigestion) between the navel and the breastbone (likely to occur in less than 1 in 100 people). • Bleeding in the stomach or intestines. This can cause the passage of black, tarry stools or visible blood from the rectum (likely to occur in less than 1 in 100 people). • Seizures (fits) or convulsions (likely to occur in less than 1 in 100 people).
