What is it?
Hydrocortisone Ointment for Eyes 0.5% 3g Tube Composition: Active substance: 3 g of ointment contains 15 mg of hydrocortisone acetate; Excipients: Solid paraffin, cetyl alcohol, white soft paraffin (petrolatum); Indications: Allergic eye diseases (blepharitis, eyelid dermatitis, conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis), inflammatory diseases of the anterior part of the eye in the absence of damage to the corneal epithelium (conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, blepharitis). The preparation is also used for chemical and thermal burns of the eyes (after complete healing of corneal defects). Dosage and administration: Locally. A 1-2 cm strip of ointment is applied behind the lower eyelid 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 1-2 weeks. The course of treatment may be extended according to the doctor's prescription. Contraindications: Viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva (cowpox virus, varicella virus) Herpes simplex virus Fungal infections of the eye Ocular mycobacterial infections Acute, purulent bacterial infections Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Glaucoma Trachoma Vaccination period Damage to the integrity of the ocular membranes Use during pregnancy or lactation: Pregnancy: Systemically absorbed hydrocortisone is classified as Category A in Australia. No problems have been reported in humans with the use of hydrocortisone in ophthalmology, but well-controlled studies have not been conducted. Studies in pregnant mice showed that hydrocortisone drops in both eyes 5 times daily on days 10-13 of pregnancy caused a significant increase in fetal cleft palate. Studies in rabbits showed that corticosteroids cause fetal resorption and numerous anomalies, including in the head, ears, limbs, and jaw. Infants born to mothers who received substantial doses of corticosteroids during pregnancy should be carefully monitored for signs of hypoadrenalism. Breastfeeding: No problems have been reported in humans. Ability to affect reaction speed when driving or operating machinery: The effect of this medicine on a person's ability to drive a car and operate machinery has not been evaluated at the time of its registration.
