Properties

What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - Paracetamol+caffeine Composition of the preparation: Each tablet contains 500 mg of paracetamol and 65 mg of caffeine. Excipients: Pregelatinized starch, corn starch, povidone, potassium sorbate, talc, stearic acid, croscarmellose sodium, water, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, triacetin. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Analgesic non-narcotic agent (psychostimulant + analgesic non-narcotic agent) Indications: "Panadol Extra" is used for headache, migraine, toothache, back pain, muscle pain, painful menstruation, and sore throat. "Panadol Extra" is also used for symptomatic treatment of colds and flu, to reduce elevated body temperature. Methods of use and dosage: "Panadol Extra" tablets are taken orally, usually 1-2 tablets 3-4 times a day, as needed. The interval between doses is at least 4 hours. Maximum single dose is 2 tablets, maximum daily dose is 8 tablets. It is not recommended to use the preparation for more than 5 days as an analgesic and for more than 3 days as an antipyretic without medical supervision and prescription. The daily dose of the preparation and the duration of treatment can be increased only under medical supervision. If symptoms persist, consult a doctor. Overdose should be reported to a doctor immediately, even if the patient feels well. Contraindications: - Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation - Severe liver and kidney dysfunction - Genetic absence of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase - Blood diseases - Significant arterial hypertension, pronounced symptoms of atherosclerosis - Pregnancy and lactation period - Use with caution in Gilbert's syndrome - Glaucoma, sleep disturbance - Age under 14 years Side effects: At recommended doses, the preparation is usually well tolerated. Paracetamol rarely causes side effects. Allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, and Quincke's edema may occasionally occur. Rarely - leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, methemoglobinemia, agranulocytosis, as well as sleep disturbance, tachycardia. With prolonged use of high doses, the risk of hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic effects increases, and blood count control is necessary. All side effects of the preparation should be reported to a doctor.
