What is Selenaza® RP tablets and what is it used for? Selenaza® RP tablets are a trace element preparation. Indications for use: Confirmed selenium deficiency that cannot be corrected by diet: Selenium deficiency may be caused by: - Mal-digestion and mal-absorption (due to digestive disorders or weakness) - Restricted or inadequate nutrition. What should you pay attention to before taking Selenaza® RP tablets? Selenaza® RP tablets must not be taken in the following cases: - If you are hypersensitive (allergic) to sodium selenite pentahydrate or any of the other ingredients of Selenaza® RP tablets. - In case of selenium intoxication. Special precautions are required when taking Selenaza® RP tablets Please pay attention to the information in the section "Important information about some of the ingredients of Selenaza® RP tablets". Taking Selenaza® RP tablets with other medicines Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, even those obtained without a prescription. Sodium selenite pentahydrate in Selenaza® RP tablets may weaken the effect of minerals or trace elements when used together. Simultaneous use with vitamin C should be avoided. Please note that this information also applies to medicines taken recently. Pregnancy and breastfeeding There are no restrictions when used as prescribed. Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking/using any medicine. Children and elderly patients There are no restrictions when used as prescribed. Effects on ability to drive and operate machinery No special safety measures are required. Important information about some of the ingredients of Selenaza® RP tablets This medicine contains sorbitol. Please take Selenaza® RP tablets only after consulting your doctor if you know that you have an intolerance to some sugars. How to take Selenaza® RP tablets Always take Selenaza® RP tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Unless your doctor has prescribed otherwise, the recommended dose is: 1 tablet per day. At the doctor's instruction, the dose can be increased to up to 4 tablets per day for a short period (approx. 300 mcg selenium). Method of administration: Selenaza® RP tablets should be taken with liquid - it is recommended to take them with a glass of water. Duration of treatment: Treatment should continue until selenium levels normalize (selenium content in plasma 80-120 mcg/L, in blood 100-140 mcg/L). Regular monitoring of selenium levels is recommended. Possible side effects No side effects have been observed to date when used as prescribed. Storage conditions for Selenaza® RP tablets Keep the medicine out of the reach of children. Do not use the medicine after the "expiry date" indicated on the packaging. Store at a temperature not exceeding 30°C! What Selenaza® RP tablets contain The active substance is sodium selenite pentahydrate. 1 tablet contains 263 mcg of sodium selenite pentahydrate, equivalent to 79 mcg of selenium. Excipients are: microcrystalline cellulose, sorbitol (Ph.Eur.), povidone K25, magnesium stearate (Ph.Eur.), stearic palmitic acid. Appearance and contents of Selenaza® RP tablets packaging PVC/PE/PVDC and aluminum foil blister packs contain white tablets. Original packaging contains 50 tablets (N2) Original packaging contains 100 tablets (N3) Not all pack sizes may be available for sale.
