What is it?

Form, Packaging: 1. Coated dragees, one dragee contains 25 mg of active substance (20 tablets per pack). 2. Ointment 1%: 18 g tube, 1 g contains 10 mg of active substance. 3. Cream 1%: 18 g tube. 1 g contains 10 mg of active substance. Composition: Chloropyramine hydrochloride Manufacturer: Sopharma (Bulgaria) Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Antihistamine Pharmacological Action: Allergosan is an ethylenediamine derivative and an H1-receptor blocker. It prevents the development of allergic processes. In addition to its antiallergic effect, the preparation has sedative, hypnotic, and antipruritic effects, as well as peripheral anticholinergic and moderate antispasmodic properties. Indications: Dragees: Allergic rhinitis; allergic conjunctivitis; pollinosis; allergic skin reactions (rash, itching, insect bites); allergic reactions associated with the use of certain foods or medications. Ointment and cream: Insect bites; contact and localized dermatitis; rash and itching during allergic conditions. Dosage and Administration Regimen: Dragees - administered orally during meals. Adults: 25 mg (1 dragee) 3-4 times a day. If necessary, the dose can be increased up to 6 dragees per day. Children over 5 years of age: 1/2 dragee 2-3 times a day. Ointment and cream - apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected skin area 2-3 times a day. The duration of treatment should not exceed 5 days. Side Effects: Dragees - Nervous system: drowsiness, weakness, dizziness, fatigue; Digestive system: dry mouth, nausea, loss or increase of appetite, constipation; Skin and mucous membranes: allergy, photosensitivity; Other: visual disturbances, increased intraocular pressure, muscle weakness, difficulty urinating. Ointment and cream - itching or irritation may occur, which quickly subsides. Contraindications: Dragees: Glaucoma; benign prostatic hyperplasia; exacerbation of peptic ulcer disease; pyloroduodenal stenosis; asthmatic attack. Due to lack of safety data, Allergosan is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation. Ointment and cream: Hypersensitivity to the medicinal or excipient substances of the preparation. During pregnancy and lactation, the preparation is used only as prescribed by a doctor. Special Instructions: Dragees: Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases, bronchial asthma, and hyperthyroidism. Use with caution in individuals over 60 years of age, as it may cause drowsiness, decreased blood pressure; in children - excitability reactions. Allergosan should not be used with alcohol, sedatives, and hypnotics due to potentiation of their effects. The preparation is not indicated for prophylaxis in patients undergoing desensitization with allergens. Due to its pronounced sedative effect, Allergosan should not be prescribed to drivers of vehicles and operators of machinery. The preparation is not indicated for individuals with lactose intolerance, galactosemia, or malabsorption syndrome (glucose-galactose), as each dose of the preparation contains 0.0166 g of lactose. The excipient corn starch contained in the preparation poses a risk to individuals with celiac disease. Ointment and cream: The use of the preparation is not recommended on large areas of skin with impaired skin integrity and burns. With local use, Allergosan has no systemic effect, therefore it does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or perform tasks requiring high concentration. Overdose: Dragees: In adults, symptoms of CNS depression predominate; in children - signs of CNS excitation. Due to the absence of a specific antidote, treatment is symptomatic: activated charcoal, gastric lavage, infusion of saline solutions, respiratory and cardiovascular drugs. Ointment and cream: No data on overdose. Interactions with Other Drugs: Dragees: It is not recommended to use Allergosan with anticholinergic agents, as anticholinergic side effects may be enhanced. It should not be used with MAO inhibitors (a two-week interval should be observed after discontinuation of MAO inhibitor use); all CNS depressant sedatives (barbiturates, hypnotics, narcotic analgesics, sedatives, tranquilizers) enhance the sedative effect of Allergosan. Ointment and cream: No data on interactions of Allergosan with other medicinal products in case of local use. Storage Conditions and Shelf Life: Dragees - store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C, in a dry, protected from light, inaccessible to children place, and is valid for 5 years.
