What is it?
Active Ingredient: Diphenhydramine Clinical-Pharmacological Group: H1-histamine receptor blocker Indications: Allergic reactions (urticaria, hay fever, angioneurotic edema, capillary toxicosis), allergic conjunctivitis, acute iridocyclitis, vasomotor rhinitis, rhinosinusopathy, allergic dermatitis, pruritic dermatoses. Peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer disease, hyperacid gastritis (in combination therapy). Parkinsonism, chorea, insomnia. Vomiting in pregnant women, Meniere's syndrome, seasickness, radiation sickness. Extensive traumatic injuries of skin and soft tissues (burns, frostbite), hemorrhagic vasculitis, serum sickness. Premedication. Dosage and Administration: Oral. Adults – 30–50 mg 1–3 times daily. Course of treatment 10–15 days. Maximum dose in adults: single – 100 mg, daily – 250 mg. For insomnia – 50 mg 20–30 minutes before bedtime. For idiopathic and postencephalitic parkinsonism – initially 25 mg 3 times daily, with gradual dose increase, if necessary, up to 50 mg 4 times daily. For motion sickness – 25–50 mg every 6–8 hours (not more than 75 mg/day in children aged 2–6 years and 150 mg/day in children aged 6–12 years). Intramuscular – 50–250 mg; maximum single dose – 50 mg, daily – 150 mg. Intravenous drip – 20–50 mg (in 75–100 ml of 0.9% NaCl solution). Rectal suppositories are administered 1–2 times daily after an enema or spontaneous bowel movement. For children up to 3 years – 5 mg, 3–4 years – 10 mg; 5–7 years – 15 mg, 8–14 years – 20 mg. In ophthalmology: 1–2 drops of 0.2–0.5% solution are instilled into the conjunctiva 2–3–5 times daily. Intranasal: For allergic vasomotor rhinitis, acute rhinitis, rhinosinusopathy, sticks containing 0.05 g of diphenhydramine are prescribed. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity, dry mouth, numbness of the oral cavity, dizziness, tremor, nausea, headache, asthenia, decreased psychomotor reactions, photosensitization, accommodative paresis, impaired coordination. In children, paradoxical insomnia, irritability, and euphoria may develop.
