What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Lidocainum Active substance: 3.80 g Lidocaine per vial. Other components: 96% ethanol, propylene glycol, garden mint oil. Does not contain freon. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Local anesthetic. Indications: Lidocaine aerosol can be used in all cases where anesthesia of the skin or mucous membrane is required. Dental procedures and operations. Anesthesia of the injection site before administration of a local injectable anesthetic, incision of superficial abscesses, removal of a mobile milk tooth or bone fragment, removal of sutures from a mucous membrane wound. Gum anesthesia before fixing a crown or bridge prosthesis. The preparation can also be used for manual or instrumental removal of dental calculus or incision of an enlarged interdental papilla. Lidocaine aerosol reduces or suppresses the gag reflex before preparing an impression or placing an X-ray film. The preparation should only be used with elastic impression materials. Due to the risk of aspiration, the use of Lidocaine aerosol is contraindicated when plaster is used for impression preparation. For children, Lidocaine aerosol can be used for frenulotomy and incision of salivary gland cysts. Excision of benign superficial tumors of the mucous membrane. Otorhinolaryngology. Before electrocauterization during treatment of nosebleeds, before septotomy and resection of nasal polyps. The preparation can also be used for suppression of the gag reflex and anesthesia of injection sites. As additional anesthesia before incision of a peritonsillar abscess or puncture of the maxillary sinus. Anesthesia before sinus lavage. When using Lidocaine aerosol during surgical operations in the pharynx and nasopharynx, it should be taken into account that Lidocaine, when suppressing the gag reflex, enters the larynx and trachea and suppresses the cough reflex, which can lead to bronchopneumonia. This is especially important for children, as they often have a gag reflex. Therefore, Lidocaine aerosol is not recommended for local anesthesia before tonsillectomy and adenotomy in children under 8 years of age. Endoscopy and instrumental examination methods. Pharyngeal anesthesia before insertion of various tubes (gastroduodenal probe or Sengstaken tube) through the nose or mouth. Replacement of a tracheotomy tube. Gynecology and obstetrics. For anesthesia of the perineum before episiotomy or if this operation is possible. Suture removal. Anesthesia of surrounding tissues during surgery on the cervix or vagina. Lidocaine aerosol can be used for incision and treatment of hymenal remnants or wound abscesses. Dermatology. Anesthesia of the skin or mucous membranes before minor interventions. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to lidocaine or any other component of the aerosol. Dosage and administration: Dosage can vary widely depending on the data and size of the anesthetic zone. One dose of aerosol, dispensed by pressing the aerosol dosing valve, contains 4.8 mg of lidocaine. To avoid achieving high concentrations of the preparation in blood plasma, the lowest effective dose should be used. Usually, 1-3 presses of the valve are sufficient, but in obstetric practice, 15-20 doses are used (maximum amount - 40 doses for a body weight of 70 kg). Allergic reactions: Very rarely, allergic reactions may occur: urticaria, angioneurotic edema, bronchospasm, in particularly severe cases - shock. The use of the preparation should be stopped immediately upon detection of any hypersensitivity reaction.
