- DOLORILGEL 30 MG/G GEL PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET Read this leaflet carefully before you start using this medicine because it contains important information for you. Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. - Keep this leaflet. What DOLORILGEL contains and other information 1. What DOLORILGEL is and what it is used for DOLORILGEL belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This medicine is used to treat pain after injury. 2. What you need to know before you use DOLORILGEL Read this section carefully and discuss any related issues with your doctor before using DOLORILGEL. Do not use DOLORILGEL This medicine is contraindicated in the following cases: - If you are allergic to nimesulide or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6). - If you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) and have experienced hives, acute rhinitis, or difficulty breathing. - In combination with other topical medicines. - In children under 12 years of age. Do not use the medicine if any of the above cases apply to you. If you are not sure, talk to your doctor before starting treatment. Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor before using DOLORILGEL: - If you have peptic ulcer disease (damage to the lining of the esophagus or duodenum with destruction of the mucous membrane) - If you have gastrointestinal bleeding (blood loss in the gastrointestinal tract, from the pharynx to the rectum) - If you have severe liver or kidney problems - If you have severe blood clotting problems - If you have uncontrolled heart failure - If you are allergic to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (medicines similar to DOLORILGEL) During treatment with this medicine, avoid sunlight and artificial ultraviolet radiation, such as sunlight, electric lamps, and solariums. Do not use the medicine if you have ulcers, open wounds, or injuries in the area of skin where the medicine is to be applied. Avoid getting the gel in your eyes and mucous membranes; if contact occurs, rinse immediately with water. DOLORILGEL is not for use with occlusive dressings (plasters that do not allow the skin to breathe). Children DOLORILGEL is not used in children under 12 years of age. Other medicines and DOLORILGEL Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines. If you are taking: - Diuretics (medicines that help or facilitate the excretion of urine) - Antihypertensives (medicines to lower blood pressure) Tell your doctor, especially if you are elderly and have kidney problems. DOLORILGEL contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), and propylene glycol. Methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216) may cause allergic reactions, and propylene glycol may cause skin irritation. Pregnancy and breastfeeding Do not use DOLORILGEL if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suspect you are pregnant, or plan to become pregnant. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using the medicine. Driving and using machines Do not drive or use machines until you have determined whether you are sensitive to the medicine. 3. How to use DOLORILGEL Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are not sure, check with your doctor or pharmacist. The medicine is for topical use only (intended for external use). Adults Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected area 2-3 times a day. Rub the skin until the gel is completely absorbed. Wash your hands after use, unless your hands are the area being treated. Avoid getting the gel in your eyes or on mucous membranes. Duration of treatment Do not use the medicine for more than 15 days. If there is no improvement during this period, consult your doctor. If you forget to use DOLORILGEL Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose. If you miss a dose, simply continue using it when you remember and follow the usual treatment regimen. If you use more DOLORILGEL than you should Overdose is not expected as this medicine is intended for topical use. If DOLORILGEL is accidentally swallowed by you or another person or child, seek medical attention or consult a pharmacist. If you have any further questions on the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4. Possible side effects Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Very rarely, the medicine may cause: - Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, mouth, throat, eyes - Difficulty breathing and swallowing - Bullous skin reactions - Hives - Purpura (bleeding from blood vessels into the skin or mucous membranes, appearing as dark purple spots on the skin) - Rash - Mucosal lesions In this case, stop using the medicine and go to the nearest hospital emergency department. Frequent side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): - Pruritus (itching) - Erythema Side effects of unknown frequency (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): - Photosensitivity reactions (skin sensitivity to sunlight) If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. 5. How to store DOLORILGEL Keep out of reach of children. Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date "EXP" which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not dispose of medicines in wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment. 6. What DOLORILGEL contains and other information What DOLORILGEL contains - The active substance is nimesulide. Each gram of gel contains 30 mg of nimesulide. - The other ingredients are: diethanolamine, carbomer, polyoxyethylene cetyl ether, coco-caprylate/caprate, isopropyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), propylene glycol, and purified water.
