What is it?
International Name Paracetamol International and Chemical Name Paracetamol; para-acetaminophenol. Main Physical-Chemical Properties Transparent, viscous, pink. 120mg Paracetamol in 5ml syrup. Composition Active Substance: 120mg Paracetamol in 5ml syrup. Other Ingredients: Sorbitol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, aspartame, propylene glycol, sodium citrate dihydrate, citric acid monohydrate, macrogol 400, sodium hydrogensulfate solution, liquid essence "Exotic", purified water. Dosage Form Syrup Pharmacological Group Anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agent. Indications Pain syndrome of various genesis, mild to moderate intensity: Headache, toothache, neuralgia, myalgia. Pain associated with teething. In case of trauma, burns, pharyngitis, rheumatic pains. Also: Fever caused by infectious-inflammatory diseases. In case of childhood viral infections. Method of Administration and Dosage The preparation is administered orally. Frequency of administration 3-4 times per day with an interval of at least 4 hours between each dose. Dosage by Age: From 6 months to 1 year: 2.5-5 ml syrup (0.5-1 teaspoon). From 1 to 3 years: 5-7.5 ml syrup (1-1.5 teaspoons). From 3 to 6 years: 7.5-10 ml (1.5-2 teaspoons). From 6 to 12 years: 10-15 ml (2-3 teaspoons). In children over 12 years of age: 15-25 ml (3-4 teaspoons). Side Effects In case of hypersensitivity to paracetamol, the following may occur: Nausea, epigastric pain, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria, Quincke's edema). In case of exceeding the recommended dose of syrup, the following side effects may develop: Hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, methemoglobinemia, agranulocytosis. With prolonged intake at doses exceeding therapeutic: Hepatotoxic effect is possible. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to paracetamol. Severe impairment of liver and kidney function. Glucose-6-dehydrogenase deficiency. Blood diseases. Children under 6 months of age. Interaction with Other Medicinal Products Patients who have used barbiturates and tricyclic antidepressants while using paracetamol may experience an increase in the half-life of the latter. Prolonged use of anticonvulsant drugs leads to an increase in liver enzyme activity, which enhances the "first-pass" effect in the liver and leads to increased clearance of the drug. This can hinder the achievement of therapeutic levels of paracetamol concentration in the blood.
