What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Furosemidum Pharmacological Group: Potent Diuretics Pharmacotherapeutic Group: Diuretic agent. Indications: Edema syndrome: Congestive heart failure stages II-III, liver cirrhosis, kidney diseases; acute left ventricular failure (pulmonary edema); hypertensive crisis; forced diuresis in poisoning with chemical compounds excreted unchanged by the kidneys. Dosage and Administration: Intravenous and intramuscular injections. Parenteral administration of the drug is advisable in urgent situations or in the presence of severely pronounced edema syndrome. Edema syndrome: Initial dose 2-4 ml of the preparation (20-40mg) intravenously, administered slowly over 1-2 minutes. If diuretic effect is not achieved, an additional 2ml (20mg) of the preparation every 2 hours until adequate diuresis is achieved. Average daily dose 0.5-1.5 mg/kg body weight, maximum daily dose 150mg. Maximum initial single dose 80mg. Pulmonary edema: 4ml (40mg) intravenously over 1 hour. If satisfactory diuretic effect is not achieved, an additional 8ml (80mg) of the preparation. Arterial hypertension: Hypertension 2-4ml (20-40mg) 1-2 times a day. If sufficient reduction of blood pressure is not achieved, it is necessary to switch to other diuretics. For children, maximum single dose is 0.2ml (2mg) per kg body weight, maximum daily dose is 0.6ml (6mg) per kg body weight. Side Effects: Water-electrolyte imbalance: Dryness of the oral cavity, thirst, muscle weakness, adynamia, orthostatic hypotension, oliguria, arrhythmias, tachycardia, muscle pain, cramps, nausea, vomiting, dehydration, hypokalemia, glucosuria, hyperuricemia, and hypocalcemia. Contraindications: Individual hypersensitivity to the preparation; anuria; benign prostatic hyperplasia; obstruction of the urinary tract by concretions; precoumotose state; hepatic coma; water-electrolyte balance disorders: hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia, hypocalcemia, and digitalis intoxication. Pregnancy and Lactation: During pregnancy and lactation, the preparation should be taken with extreme caution, under medical supervision.
